Light up the World in Prayer
21st to 31st May 2020

Jesus Christ is the light of the world and we are called to be the light of the world as we bear His image.

Could you commit to lighting up the world in prayer during these 11 days between Ascension and Pentecost?

After the very first Ascension Day the disciples gathered with Mary, constantly devoting themselves to prayer while they waited for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Like them, our reliance on the gift of the Holy Spirit is total – on our own we can do nothing.

Through the centuries Christians have gathered at that time to pray for the coming of the Holy Spirit. ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ picks up this tradition. Over the past three and a half years more and more worshipping communities have dedicated the days between Ascension and Pentecost to pray ‘Come Holy Spirit’.

At this unique and challenging time in the world, over 65 UK churches and movements, representing hundreds of others, came together online to sing a blessing over the land of the United Kingdom. Standing together as one, their desire is that this song will encourage all.

Seeing worshippers come together in literal harmony from so many diverse denominational backgrounds and many walks, has been so inspiring and has shown the world, whilst our buildings may be closed the Church is very much Alive. This song is not about personalities and ‘celebrities’, it’s about a church coming together as one to bless our land.
